Some new health law bills on the way

Bills Introduced

HR 5179 (Dahlkemper, D-PA), to amend Title 5, United States Code, to make clear that family coverage under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program remains available with respect to an otherwise eligible child of a federal employee or annuitant until that child attains 26 years of age; to Oversight and Government Reform. H Res 1311 (Cohen, D-TN), expressing support for the charitable collection and good Samaritan distribution to uninsured, low-income Americans of Flood and Drug Administration-approved, medically-appropriate, non-expired, non-narcotic prescription medications by non-profit organizations licensed to dispense such medications; to energy and Commerce. Hearings

The Health Subcommittee, House Energy and Commerce Committee, will hold a hearing on HR 4700, to provide for transparency in health care pricing; HR 2249, to amend Title XIX of the Social Security Act to provide for increased price transparency of hospital information and to provide for additional research on consumer information on charges and out-of-pocket costs; and HR 4803, to ensure health care consumer and provider access to certain health benefits plan information and to amend Title XIX of the Social Security Act to provide transparency in hospital price and quality information. 5/6/10, 10 am, 2322 Rayburn.
